One day I started thinking of my uterus and decided to make a physical representation of her in order to have better communication. This is where all my creative powers come from.
This embroidery is the first in my organ series.
Early in 2018 my father was hospitalized with a severe pancreatitis. As he was admitted into the ICU, I ran to the airport to catch the next flight home. I took my thread and needles to keep me grounded. The long days at the hospital where exhausting and stressful. At least my mom, my brother, my husband and I had each other to get strength and comfort. This is what I created during those 10 days by my dad’s bedside. This embroidery has found objects from the hospital room. My dad came out of the adventure victorious!
Second in the organ series.
Portrait of my best friend Celia Cueto Morillo. We met the day we started art school in San Francisco. It turned that even though we grew up in opposite ends of the world, we had had very similar upbringings. Some of the common interest that unite us are: food, books, naming everything we own, travel, art, love for raccoons, blanket fortresses, and debating everything that we experience and observe.
Cheers to friendships, or should I say, sisterhood!
