Metromile Product Animations

As their Sr. Visual and Motion Designer I worked across product and marketing. This page focuses on the product side — a collection of Lottie animations that brought the Metromile app to life, covering everything from the splash screen and onboarding to loaders, permissions flows, and the customer support chat.

This was my first time working on the product side and I got completely hooked. There's something different about seeing your animation live inside an app on someone's phone — it's part of the experience, not an interruption of it.

Lottie was only about two years old when I did this work, with a lot of quirks. I figured out how to make it work on my own, back then there was no AI to troubleshoot problems with. I worked closely with a product designer and an engineer to make sure every file delivered correctly.

The illustrations came from Metromile's existing library — warm, friendly, and approachable. My job was to make them move in a way that matched that warmth.
